Antique French Ring Platinum 18k Gold Diamonds Pink Tourmaline Engagement (7094)

Antique Ring. Late Victorian, Edwardian. 18k Gold, platinum, diamonds, tourmaline. Made in France. Previous owner believed the ring dates 1840-1860, but I believe it is closer to 1890-1910.

Measurements: Weight is 2.7 grams. US size 6.5. Tourmaline 1.53ct; diamonds 0.35ct.

Description : Called Marguerite in French, the ring is in the form of a Daisy flower. Rounded rectangle shaped tourmaline in a magnificent shade of pink, that glows with light and sinks into shade as the light catches it at different angles. Surrounded by Millegrain platinum mounted diamonds. During the 19th century, diamonds were always set in white metal, whether silver or platinum, to show them off to best effect in gas or candle light. Backs were yellow gold as is the case here. Beautiful scrolling heart openwork gallery raises the ring above the finger. Yellow gold shank.
This ring makes you want to wear it. It has an ineffable attraction above the color, materials, shape, design and workmanship. Very special.
Ring looks absolutely fabulous on the finger. Versatile, it can be worn with any outfit to any occasion. Possibly even makes a great engagement ring.

Marks and Metal: French Owl mark (for 18k gold) on the shank. Any other marks have been lost to time.

Condition: Good with minor wear commensurate with age. Please see enlarged pictures and don't hesitate to ask questions which we will do our best to answer.
Professional, independent appraisal.
