Vintage ring. 18k white gold, opal and diamonds. Made in France around mid 1900's.
Measurements: Weight is 4.5 grams. US size 6 - 6 1/4. Opal approximately 4.5ct. Diamonds 0.10ct.
Description : this ring is all about the fabulous color play and gleam of the opal. It is oval in shape and rises well above the level of the finger, contained simply by 4 prongs. These sit above a simple openwork gallery that connects to the shoulders, which are pave set with a line of diamonds.
The color of the opal depends entirely on the angle that the light catches it. It ranges from almost clear to many shades of blue, green, yellow, orange and purple.
Quality of work is very good. The jeweller knew that this was all about the opal and designed a simple, elegant mount to show it off to best effect. Classic elegance, yet sure to draw attention.
Marks and Metal: outside of the shank with eagle head mark (French for 18k gold) and another mark that is not quite legible.
Condition: Good with negligible wear commensurate with age. Please see enlarged pictures and don't hesitate to ask questions which we will do our best to answer.
