Antique Victorian ring. 18k gold, natural sapphires and diamonds. Made 19th century.

Measurements: Weight is 8.2 grams. Length of bezel is approximately 7/8 inches (22mm). Professional, independant appraisal as 5.28ct sapphires and .44ct diamonds.

Description : Exceptional ring in the form of a target. A central sapphire, collette set in gold is surrounded by a ring of diamonds. (I think more than the appraised ct weight). This is in turn surrounded by another ring of sapphires. Sapphires are a lovely deep blue, bright and lively. It is not often that we sapphires of this color and sparkle.

The mount is exceptional with gold openwork scrolls and foliage going from the shoulders, down the shank, all the way around. A bridge of beautiful, scrolling gold openwork raises the gems above the level of the finger.

The previous owner had very thin fingers and rather than compromise the wonderful gold mount, she inserted a sizing ring. This makes measuring the size difficult for us (I think approx a US 6 or slightly larger). It can be removed by the next owner quite easily).

Marks: No marks. Gold was tested to ensure metal purity.

Condition: Good with negligible wear commensurate with age. Sizing loop can easily be removed. Please see enlarged pictures and don't hesitate to ask questions which we will do our best to answer. Independent appraisal available to new owner upon request.
