Measurements: US size 5 1/2. Bezel is 14mm X 12mm. Weight is 4.8 grams.

Description : Rectangular bezel. A raised section in the middle consists of two rows of rose cut diamonds, set in silver (considered superior for showing of diamonds at that time). It is surrounded by a border of half pearls. Tightly fitting gold mount with silver top. Most Georgian jewelry was gold with a layer of silver holding the gems. The mount is delicately rounded to fit the shape of the pearls. Narrow, flat ribbons of gold form the shoulders that converge on the sides to a single hoop. The surface with moulded and repousse decoration with a botanical theme. Beautifully done in an age when workmanship counted for something. The ring is wonderfully elegant and well made. The ring could have been worn as a pinkie ring by a man or as a wedding or romantic ring by a woman. As delightfully pretty today as it was 200 years ago.

Marks: No marks. Gold was acid tested to ensure metal purity.

Condition: Fairly good with minor wear commensurate with age. The shank is worn commensurate with age and in one or two places, the narrow forks of the shoulders have been rejoined to the bezel. Please see enlarged pictures and don't hesitate to ask questions which we will do our best to answer.

A ring with a very similar design is shown on page 271 of the book RINGS by Diana Scarisbrick. Dates to first half of the 19th century.
