Antique Victorian ring. 18k yellow gold, turquoise and teeth. Made in Paris, France, 19th century by Louis Wiese. Signed.

Measurements: US size 9 1/4. Weighs 4.3 grams.

Description : The Victorians were extremely sentimental and this pretty ring reflects their sensibility both aesthetically and the high regard they held personal connections. The hoop with beading down the sides, graduating in size from the largest at the shoulder, decreasing in size towards the back of the ring, where it becomes a simple raised line. Tiny beading surrounds a central rectangle containing 3 wonderfully colored turquoise, flanked on either side by what looks like pearls, but is in fact a pair of milk teeth. The effect is very pretty.

Very well made and solid and a great ring to wear alone or stacked with other jewelry.

Marks: Outside of shank has French eagle head for 18k gold. Side of shank has diamond-shaped maker's mark lozenge, with WIESE's mark.
