Vintage Art Deco ring. platinum, diamonds and emeralds. Made circa 1930-40's.
Measurements: Approximately US size 7.5. Weighs 9.4 grams. Central diamond .75ct plus another 1.0 ct diamonds. 1.30ct emeralds.
Set in platinum a double band of rose cut diamonds with space in the center for a line of larger stones: an old mine cut diamond flanked on either side by a pair of emeralds giving the impression of a stylistic flower and foliage. The emeralds are pointed pear-shaped and each has a wonderful deep hue and lovely brightness. Below each of the outer bands of diamonds is a 'bridge' made of scrolling platinum. This allows light to enter from behind the stones and add to their brightness. It also lifts the diamonds and emeralds above the level of the finger, drawing attention to the higher central line of diamond and emeralds. The scrolling goldwork is typical of the period between 1930-40's.
