The fine plique a jour enamel in small silver cells around his head and under the halo are in gold, while the radiating light on the outside is a deep, rich red plique a jour enamel. Exquisitely modelled hands and other fine features. Many Christian symbols.

The back with swathes of foliage, typical of the Art Nouveau taste. The area directly below the loop with Jesus's name in Greek letters. A reserve is left to engrave a name or dedication. Beautifully made religious item for a spiritual Roman Catholic Christian. The Sacred Heart is a Roman Catholic symbol of the resurrected body of Jesus and represents the Love of Jesus and God.

Plique a Jour enamel transmits light and is often compared to stained glass windows. THe effect is much like a beautiful, colored gem. Plique a jour enamelling is the most difficult enamelling technique to master. It was popular during the Art Nouveau period.
