Antique necklace from Belle Epoque Edwardian era circa 1900 - 1910. 15ct gold, pearls, demantoid garnets and diamond. Made in the United Kingdom.
Measurements: Weight is 9.0 grams. Length approximately 16 1/2 inches (42cm).
Description : Perfect for a wedding or a graduation gift. Scrolling, foliate gold openwork i a curvy triangle. The surface is largely set with pearls. Top, center features a flower, raised slightly above the level of the rest of the necklace. The petals are pearls and in the center is a small diamond. Intersperced between the scrolls are a number of demantoid garnets, adding to the botanical feel of the necklace.
The construction of the pendant section of the necklace is partially with loops connecting the various sections. This allows for a certain amount of flexibility/mobility, making it less rigid. Parts of the gold scroll-work is embellished with little gold globules that add texture and subtle interest to the design.
Marks and Metal: At least two marks on the back. Maker's mark SS and another mark reading either 15 or 18. Gold was acid tested as 15ct.
Condition: Good with negligible wear commensurate with age. Ring clasp is a replacement. Please see enlarged pictures and don't hesitate to ask questions which we will do our best to answer.
