Antique Victorian Long Gold Chain Necklace Sautoir. 9k Gold, natural pearls, amethysts and peridot. Made in England circa 1813-20. <P><P>
Measurements: Weight is 18.8 grams. Approximately 54 inches (137.5 cm) long. <P><P>
Description : Very long gold chain that can be wound multiple times around the neck. Small oval gold links intersperced at intervals with gems in the suffragette colors, green, white, violet, translating to peridot, natural pearls and amethysts. The contrast of the colors is highly attractive and adds a great finishing touch to any outfit. Spring loop appears to be original to the necklace.  <P><P>
During the fight for Women's Rights, women could convey their sympathies and allegiance to the Woman's Movement by wearing jewelry in the Suffragette colors. Green, white and violet (purple) meants Give Women the Vote. Today, this Suffragette jewelry is highly sought after and collected. Highly versatile jewelry that can be worn in many ways. <P><P>
