Description : During the Art Deco period, 1925-1930's, there was tremendous interest in Asian themes, not least Chinese and Japanese carved coral. Many old examples of Chinese carved coral were incorporated in Art Deco jewelry. This necklace consists of a gold chain with long rectangular links alternating with small round links. Coral beads and enamelled flowers lead to a carved coral flower that in turn suspends another enamel flower and finally a stunning carved goldfish / khoi. Swirling openwork symbols overlap and run at various angles over one another, giving a strong sense of a fish moving in water. The carving is very beautiful. The coral a salmon color.

Marks: The jump loop of the chain is marked 14k.
