Description: Exquisitely made during the late Georgian period 1820-30 when fine workmanship compensated for the scarcity of gold. Wonderful cannetille in coiling pyramids and scrolling filigree throughout. The necklace consists of 5 sections in the front. Each one of these in fine cannetille scrolling and coiling gold wire and granulated details. Set in the center with flat topped garnets and with cabochon turquoise on the cardinal points of the 3 largest panels. The alternating smaller sections with garnets and cannetille, but not turquoise. The matching clasp with tongue and groove closure is identically set with garnets and turquoise. It is connected to the front via 3 concentric belcher link chains. The pendant cross drop is detachable. It is made with the same exquisite cannetille work set with 10 beautiful matching garnets and 12 cabochon turquoise. The necklace is absolutely stunning and as wearable today as it was 200 years ago.

Marks: No marks were found as is to be expected of an item of this age. We acid tested the gold, which stays for 18k Gold. The gold embossed box with the Royal Crown By appointment H.M. The Queen Goldsmiths & Jewellers GARRARD & CO Ltd 112 Regent Street W.L.

Condition: Generally good condition. Typical of such old pieces, there are small areas where the gold has darkened. I think this can quite easily be cleaned, but I do not interfere with patina and signs of venerable age.
