Description : Necklaces that hang just about the collar bone are known as collier draperie in France. This necklace combines many of the Art Nouveau features, from the fascination with insects, in particular butterflies, to the fine wire work and elongated elegance of the links. There are 5 butterflies, wings outstretched joined via loops in the front of the necklace. The central of the joining loops suspends a fine gold bar with a flower medallion hanging from it - very Victorian in style. The butterflies are composed of filigree wire work with beading and gold borders. They are very lovely.

The chain that completes the necklace is also typical of the period in France. Long oval links with filigree twisted wire work within. This necklace is an utter delight. It is as wearable today as it was well over 100 years ago and is suitable for every outfit from jeans to suits and for every woman, young or old.

Marks: French hallmarks on the rings near the clasp.
