Antique long chain necklace. 14k rose or red gold (56 in Russian standard). Made in Russia circa 1908.

Measurements: Length of chain , not including the tassels is 32inches (82cm). Total weight is 31.5grams.

Description: Simple round ribbon links in a warm red or rose gold. Matching slide with applied gold leaves and colored and white paste gems for subtle interest. Tassels are attached at the sides of the slider and at the bottom of the chain via links identical, but smaller than the links of the main necklace. This is classic, understated adornment - adds to the finished, elegant look without screaming attention at itself.

It is possible to pinpoint almost the exact year that this chain was made due to the combination of hallmarks used. In some cases, they indicate the period 1898-1908 and in others, they are the marks used from 1908-1927. Clearly, the maker was still using some loops from his older stock and some from the new.
see below for rest of description
Marks: Looking at the chain from the front, the loop on the left side of the slide is marked with a head facing left, which was used from 1898-1908. Further down on the same section, the loop joining the tassel has the maker's initials and a worn mark. On the right of the slide, the loop connecting to the tassle also has the maker's initials and a head facing right - the mark used from 1908. The loop connecting the bottom left tassle has the initials of the maker and the head facing left. The loop on the right tassle has the maker's inintials as well as the 'shovel' mark with 56 for the gold standard, the head and the number 10. Back of the slider has the maker's name in Cyrillic letters.

Condition: good with minor wear commensurate with age. with a loupe, I found solder marks on one of the small loops connecting one of the bottom tassles (mentioned only for the sake of accuracy - noone will ever notice it). Please see enlarged pictures and don't hesitate to ask questions which we will do our best to answer.
