Antique Victorian tie/scarf/cravat pin. 18k gold and garnets. Made in France circa 1880-1890.
Measurements: Weight is 3.4 grams. Total length of the pin is 2 1/2 inches (6cm). The pig is approximately 5/8 inches (1.75cm) long.
Description : This is a tiny pig, beautifully modelled with very fine detail from his minute trotters, to his smile and snout and his lovely textured surface. He is still attached to his original gold pin, which is quite a rarity in itself. However, the biggest rarity is the form of the little creature - small pig jewelry is very difficult to find, especially pieces of this superior quality. Elegance with humour, a wonderful, novelty item.
Marks and Metal: The pin is marked with the French eagle head for 18k gold as well as a slightly worn maker's mark lozenge/punch.
Condition: Good with negligible wear commensurate with age. Please see enlarged pictures and don't hesitate to ask questions which we will do our best to answer.
