Antique Edwardian Belle Epoque Suffragette necklace. 15ct gold, pink topaz, peridot, aquamarines and pearls. Circa 1910.
Measurements: Weight is 13.7 grams. Approximately 18 inches (46cm) long. Independent appraisal.
Description : Exquisite bright gem necklace. Cushion shaped stones alternate with one another and contrast with one another. The longest drop is in the middle and consists of a line of gems, top to bottom as follows: pearl, aquamarine, pearl and bright pink topaz. On either side, joined by gold links are pink topaz and then scrolling gold stations in the form of twisted ropes with a small pearl above and peridot drop. The pattern is repeated and ends with smaller pink topaz.
The colors green, white and pink/violet were the secret Suffragette code of this period. The letters are acrostic for 'Give Women the Vote'. By a very happy coincidence, the color combination is stunning, making this jewelry all the more attractive.
Gems are bright and lively and the combination is stunning.
Curb link back chain with bolt ring clasp. Clasp is an early replacement.
Marks and Metal: No marks. Gold was acid tested to ensure metal purity.
Condition: Good with negligible wear commensurate with age. Please see enlarged pictures and don't hesitate to ask questions which we will do our best to answer.
Independent appraisal with value of $15215.00 available to new owner.
