Antique Georgian ring. 18k gold, silver and foiled paste. Made in France, late 18th - early 19th century.
Measurements: approximately US size 8.5. Bezel is approx 1 1/8 (29mm) long. Weighs 10.4grams.
Rounded rectangular, arching shape. Beautiful deep purple, amethyst-colored paste gems, tightly set, form the outer border of the bezel. A second ring of diamond-like paste forms a 2nd border, with light around it on both sides. Within, is a central long, rectangular purple paste. All 'gems' are foil backed and set in silver, typical of the Georgian period. The shank is in scrolling openwork gold.
Marks: the shank is hallmarked on the back. The Maker's mark is partially illegible, but appears to begin with a P or R.
Condition: good with negligible wear commensurate with age. Please see 'photos.
