Description : Simple gold wires are easy to insert and comfortable to wear. They connect to a ribbon of gold formed into a loop through which the rectangular loop of the apex of the fan fits. This allows the fan to move independantly and swing and sway as the wearer moves. The gold fans with waved bottoms have simple, engraved decoration: a zigzag border and simple flowers on the main surface. Perhaps this is understated Japanese taste. During the late 19th century, Europeans were highly enthusiastic about anything in the Japanese aesthetic, which strongly influenced their art. Fans were a very popular topic during that time and many earrings were made in the form of Japanese fans.
