Antique Georgian earrings ear pendants. 18k yellow gold and coral. Earrings possibly carved in England circa 1790-1820, with replaced French posts.

Measurements: approximately 1 1/4 inches (3.5cm) long. Combined weight 9.3grams.

Description: Exquisitely hand carved natural coral flowers. The surmounts are simple round coral beads with gold backs, attached to posts. Clearly, these posts are 20th century replacements. The surmounts are connected via gold rods ending in loops to the drops, which are free to swing and sway as the wearer moves. The movement adds interest and draws the eye subtlely to the earrings. The drops are quite magnificent - composite round flowers, each section very finely hand carved. The total effect is very rich and beautiful.

Marks: Typically, there are no marks to be found on the Georgian earrings, but the replaced backs are marked with a French manufacturer's lozenge and name (PA MECAN AL) as well as the eagle head mark, indicating 18k gold.

Condition: Considering the age and delicate nature of the material, the earrings are in remarkable condition. Close scrutiny shows that a few of the minute frills on the petals have chipped off. Two petals might have been replaced as they are different in form to all of the others. Please see enlarged pictures and don't hesitate to ask questions which we will do our best to answer.
