Stunning Art Deco earrings. Parallel horizontal bands arch in semicircles of bright pink-red rubies, invisibly set, separated by pearls. Bordered by gold mounts. Pearls in a row between the arching pink bands. The top of each earring is a pair of pearls with protruding gold globes holding them in place above, reminiscent of a spire atop a building. Below the bottom arching row of rubies is a fringe of pearls, each ending in bright red beads. The backs are gold as are the posts. Posts are relatively thick and would accommodate the large holes in the lobes of women early in the 20th century. The Art Deco era was also well-known for converting fabulous Indian jewels to more European taste and making fabulous European style jewels for wealthy Indian women. Sensational appearance, very well made earrings.

Marks and materials: no marks were found. Gold is either low carat or vermeil. Pearls are believed to be natural pearls, but are untested. Rubies tested on Presidium and by gemological appraiser, may be natural or synthetic, but definately test as rubies.
