Antique Victorian day night earrings / long ear pendants. 14k gold, enamel, coral and pearls. Made circa 1840-60. Origin unknown.
Measurements: a little over 3.5cm long, excluding the wires and the drop; a little under 4.5cm excluding the wires only. Note: ruler in 'photos is in inches. Weigh 3 grams.
Wires, going from back to front of the ears with a surmount in polished and matt-textured gold Openwork with a flower and foliage theme, centered by a coral bead. The surmount can be removed and worn alone by day and the rest of the earring added for night. The main body of the earring echoes the openwork multi-surfaced gold with flowers in blue and black enamel as well as the gold flowers and matching coral highlights. Enamelled flowers are centered with tiny pearls. Cuirs on the borders (raised, modelled scrolling decoration). A small loop connects the main body of the earring to the tassle-like single drop.
Marks: We did not find any hallmarks, typical of jewelry of this period. Gold was acid tested.
Condition: good. Minor wear commensurate with age.
