Antique Thomas Webb & Sons carved cameo glass bowl or vase. Made in England 19th century (1880-1910).
Measurements: approximately 9inches (23cm) high and 28inches (72cm) in circumference.
Round, tapering slightly at the base and curved neck flaring out to the upper rim. Citron glass under white. The citron yellow has a slight iridescence, giving it a satiny, sheeny appearance. The front is profusely carved with flowers in bud and in full bloom, with intertwined tendrils and foliage scrolling in a rich and naturalistic botanical depiction. The back has a pretty butterfly, appropriate to the floral subject and a widely recognised symbol for Webb Cameo Glass. The quality of the carving is fabulous with fine detail and many layers of relief.
Marks: the vase is signed underneath with the THOMAS WEBB & SONS CAMEO mark with a flower, all embossed in the glass.
Condition: generally very good. There is a tiny bubble, original to the manufacture at the bottom inside of the bowl and there is a tiny loss, shown magnified in the 'photos to the white rim-line. No other damage / faults could be found.
