Antique late Victorian Arts and Crafts / Art Nouveau ring. Gold, turquoise matrix and diamonds. Made circa 1890-1910.
Measurements: approximately 1 3/8 inches (33mm) long. Weighs 7.7 grams. US ring size approximately 5-5 1/2. Can easily be resized.
Elongated oval ring. Turquoise in the matrix. Turquoise is more green than blue with deeper tones and still in the brown matrix which can be seen on one edge. Set in a wonderful Arts and Crafts / Nouveau gold mount with overlapping foliage that partially conceals a Greek Key border. Diamonds in tall colette settings on each of the cardinal points. Plain gold shank.
This is classic Arts and Crafts in both the design and choice of materials. Artist jewellers of the late 19th century were more interested in design than expensive gemstones, although the use of diamonds as highlights shows a particularly luxurious example.
