Antique Victorian ring. 14k yellow gold, sapphire, diamonds and demantoid garnets. Made circa 1890-1900.
Measurements: approximately US size 6.5. Can be resized. sapphire 6.10ct; diamonds 1.45 in total. Weighs 7.2grams.
From above, bezel is in 3 main sections: the center consists of a large, oval medium-light blue natural sapphire set in a sterling silver colette to show off the color to better effect. On either side are 'champagne' colored diamonds - the light yellow color contrasting beautifully with the blue of the sapphire. These are surrounded by rings of colette set white diamonds alternating with demantoid garnets - the startling bright green enclosing the diamonds and sapphire with powerful effect. The colors of this ring are exceptional and striking and the ring has a big look when worn. It is physically quite a big ring, unlike most of the delicate items of this period.
The sides or mount is a double layer of openwork arches, somewhat Gothic in style, allowing light to enter the ring from behind the gemstones and add brightness from behind. The shoulders are engraved to add further detail to the setting. Strong design makes it perfect for a man or woman - unisex.
Marks: none, as is to be expected. Gold acid tested for 14k.
Condition: good with some wear commensurate with age. Please see enlarged pictures that show all aspects of the ring.
