New
Antique Georgian carved cameo brooch. 18k yellow gold, natural salt water pearls, rose cut diamonds, cameo. Made circa 1800- 1820, probably in England.
Measurements:43mm (just under 1 3/4 inches) long; approximately 1.50ct diamonds (H-I-J in color); Two 6.00mm natural pearls; weighs 11.3g.
Octagonal shape - rectangular with canted corners and rounded borders on either side. The outer border is all rose cut diamonds with a pair of natural pearls in the rounded ends on either side. Within a gold rised border is a carved shell cameo depicting a trio of revellers - dancing in single file, playing music. A leopard gambols between their feet. This is a near-exact replica of a marble relief in the British Museum of a maenad and 2 satyrs in a Bacchic procession.
Exquisite. Wonderful detail and patina. Look at the back for another view of the fabulous quality and hinged, c-shaped clasp.
Marks: none as is to be expected in Georgian jewelry.
Condition: good with negligible wear commensurate with age.
