Antique Victorian Pendant and Brooch / Pin. Sapphires, diamonds 14k gold and silver. Made in England circa 1880.
Measurements: diameter approx 1 1/4 inches / 3.5cm. Weighs 14.7 grams. Approximately 1ct diamonds and 2.90 carats sapphires.
Openwork, flowerhead design. Arching, circular. Silver set on 14k gold to show off diamonds to greater effect. Diamonds are single and and old cut. The back has a detachable fitting that allows it to be worn as either a brooch or a pendant. The loop for the pendant is on a hinge that is hidden when it is worn as a brooch. Natural sapphires are of a beautiful deep blue that offers a fine contrast with the diamonds.A beautiful piece of good Victorian jewelry, increasingly difficult to find this quality. Versatile and well made.
A small safety pin on a chain for additional security.
Marks: no marks as is to be expected of a piece of this age. The metal was tested as being at least 14k gold and sterling silver. Condition: good with negligible wear commensurate with age.
