Bronze oil lamp with thistle theme modelled in relief.
Made in France and artist signed Georges Leleu and Salon 1904.
Classic Art Nouveau bronze relief.
Stands 13 1/2 inches high.
Round base is just under 7 1/4 inches in diameter.
Superb modelling of thistles and thistle leaves sweep in typical Art Nouveau whiplashed waves around the base and then swoosh up the leg of the lamp, that curves and widens to echo the elegant curves below.
Relief thistle leaves curve up the leg, ending in flowers near the shoulders.
The top of the leg widens, almost like a mushroom and is similarly modelled with swooping waves and thistle flowers.
The lamp has impressed signature of G Leleu and Salon 1904 on the outside rim.
Underneath are numerals 03 and possibly someone has signed a name under it (see 'photos).
The lamp has been converted to electricity and has original French switch and plug.
Condition is very good with wonderful patina.
