Antique Chinese Cloisonne Enamel Pair Vases on Stands 17" (#5410) Antique pair of vases. Cloisonne enamel and gilding. Made in China circa 1890-1910.
Measurements: Approximately 15 1/2 inches high without stands and 17inches high with stands.
Baluster shaped vases. Believed to be enamel on brass (not heavy enough to be bronze). The entire surface is beautifully decorated with cloisonne work. A blue background with gold-colored metal cloisonnes (cells). Birds and marvellous huge flowers, geometric patterns and stylised botanical themes with butterflies flitting around rocky outcrops, typical of Chinese landscapes. Lovely shading to the color tones. Gilt borders.
Vases come with fitted wooden stands. Insides of the vases and bottoms are turquoise enamel. Lovely quality workmanship.
Condition is good considering the age, with minor wear commensurate with age and a couple of scratches, notably inside one of the vases, but no damage of any sort found on the outside. See 'photos.
