Antique late Victorian - early Edwardian pair of earrings. 19.25ct yellow and white gold and diamonds. Made by Angelo Martins and assayed in Lisbon, Porgugal. Circa 1900-1910.
Measurements: Excluding the wires, the earrings are approximately 1/2inch (12mm) in diameter. Weight 5.1grams. Total diamond weight 2.50ct
Earrings are half-globes of concentric rings of diamonds that appear to float in the air. Centered by largest diamonds and mounted in white gold on top and yellow gold behind. Wires make it easy and convenient to insert and wear these earrings. The workmanship is of the highest standard, typical of the Edwardian era. The earrings are very beautiful. Suitable to wear on the most important occasions or every day, these classic earrings will never go out of fashion.
Marks: earrings are hallmarked with the maker's mark for Angelo Martins (1903-1939) and Assay marks of Lisbon (1887-1937). Portugal has a particularly high standard of gold 19.25, which is higher than that used in the rest of Europe.
Condition: very good with negligible wear commensurate with age.
