Antique Victorian Art Nouveau necklace. 18k yellow gold, sapphires, small natural pearls. Made in France circa 1890's - 1900. <P><P>
Measurements: Approximately 19 1/2 inches (49.5cm) long. Weighs 24.2 grams. 1.20ct sapphires. <P><P>
Late Victorian necklace transitioning to Art Nouveau with scrolls and overlapping gold designs ending in delicate buds. Gold chain connections 5 sections, gradated in size and complexity with the largest and most complex in the center. Lovely red sapphires and small natural pearl highlights. Central stones purplish red. Repousse gold waves and scrolls for subtle added interest. Chain was handmade. Loop allows wearer to wear the neckace a little longer or shorter, depending on personal preference. A small safety chain for additional security. <P><P>
Marks: there are a number of hallmarks on the loops including maker's mark and eagle head for 18k gold. Gold was also acid tested to ensure metal purity. <P><P>
Condition: the jump loop of the safety chain was replaced. There are a few tiny dings in the gold bud terminals. The rest of the necklace is in good condition with minor wear commensurate with age.
