Frequently Asked Questions
What is your best price?
My prices are very fair, but I am always happy to consider a reasonable offer and try to meet you. Let me know what your offer is and I'll get right back to you.
Can I pay via layaways or installments?
Yes you can. Think carefully about how much you can pay and how long you need to pay off. Many people make the initial payment(s) and then loose interest in the item. Keep the time-frame down to a minimum without hurting your pocket unduly.
Size or measurements. How big is... ?
In most cases the answer is in the verbal description. Did you read it? Sometimes, there is no significance to a measurement, but you are welcome to ask if it is important to you. Sometimes, I forgot to write the measurement, so please feel free to point that out.
Can the item (especially rings) be resized?
As a generalization, if you have a fantastic jeweler, the answer is yes. However, if there is work on the hoop beyond the shoulders or if the hallmarks are in jeopardy, I would advise against changing the size of a ring.
Making slight size alterations is better than making large size alterations.
Going from big to small: you can save yourself and the jewel by buying a metal sleeve for a few dollars. It fits into the hoop and you comfortably adjust it to suit yourself.
What do you mean by independent appraiser?
We believe that there is an ethical conflict of interests when a seller provides his own appraisal. For that reason, we go to a lot of expense and trouble to send many of our jewels to an objective third party who is a) very experienced as a gemologist and b) has no vested interest in the perceived value and c) is willing to stand up in court and back up her/his opinion. These appraisals are available to the buyer.
Can you ship to a different address?
We are obliged to ship to the address we get from Paypal. You can have multiple addresses on Paypal. Just ensure that the one you want us to use is the one you pay from. Let us know if you need help.
